July 15th, 2013

Well it's been another great week in New York City! I'm not sure where to begin!

We did a lot of contacting and inviting to the cultural activity and visiting with less actives. It's so amazing to see the blessings of the gospel begin to unfold as people come back to church. We have LOTS of less actives in this ward. Some who simply don't have easy transportation (hardly anyone drives here), some who don't know where the church is (like our awesome friend, Juah!) and others who choose not to keep the covenants they have made. Sadly, the majority of our less actives is the last example. But we will not give up on them!

So we weren't able to visit with Jessica this week. Everyone has crazy schedules here, no time for fun or spiritual feasting:) but she did come to the cultural activity on saturday which was awesome!! And she said she gave away all of the wine she had in her apt!!! It was funny because when we talked to her about it before she said she only uses it for entertaining friends, not for herself. And she said we could call any of her friends and they would say she doesn't drink. But the Lord softened her heart and she gave them away. Just like that. SO AMAZING!!! She is such a friendly, kind lady. The gospel will be a great addition to her life.
Erina also returned back from Mexico on Saturday. She didn't come to church but she said she read some of the Book of Mormon on her trip and wants to meet with us on Syehe cultural activity this week and it was AWESOME!! Everyone brought food from their different cultures and then we had presentations from a few places. Phillipines, Sri Lanka, Dominican Republic, Ireland, Japan, Australia, USA, Honduras, Mexico.... So fun and so yummy haha i loved it!
So Yesterday was Emile's baptism! He's such a great kid. After he was baptized he put both arms up in the air and said 'YES!" haha so cute! I don't have much time so I will end by giving you a few scriptures to read. I have studying a lot on patience and joy and just the joy of the gospel that we have. D&C 64:33, Proverbs 15:15, Luke 22:32, D&C 84:100
I love you! Thanks for your love and support!

So missionary life is just an adventure. You never know what to expect! This week was definitly one of those weeks. A lot of our appointments fell through, my dear companion who is going home in two weeks was sick for two days, and I was called into the mission presidents office! So unexpected but so amazing. I have asked to serve the beautiful people of Bermuda beginning in September. It's literally a dream come true. I just can't wait!!! So I have had to do a lot of paperwork, fingerprinting, notarizing, Manhattan and Queens trip, and other fun stuff which took away some missionary time but of course, the Lord provides away :)
We were able to meet with Jessica again this week and she is opening up more and more about her life. Turns out she was a fashion designer for a company in Africa! Cool!!! She is a star and will surely be baptized although we are still not quite sure when. She has a lot going on at work so we arent' able to meet with her as often as we would like but that's okay! It will all work out :)
So with the craziness of preparing for Bermuda and my companion being sick, we weren't able to teach a lot this week. But nevertheless, we prayed with faith and at church yesterday we had several less actives attend and another beautiful baptismal service for the sweet Pen boys Tsubon and Myumbo. Jessica attended the service and said, that will be me one day:)  Ah I'm so happy. She is so compassionate and was talking with a few less actives and was like "why don't you come to church" she's already diong missionary work and she's not a member yet. What a blessing. We were also blessed this week because we were able to meet with a family from Sri Lanka!  They were found by the Elders but the father asked us if we would teach his daughters! Of course we accepted :) I won't try to spell their names haha but they are 20 and 23 and are AWESOME!!!! They are both working at Dunkin Donuts to try to pay the rent until their parents can find work. They have only been here for a month and have next to nothing but are so giving and humble and happy. They are Buddhist but want to learn more about God because they are in need of someone to help them. I am so excited to meet with them more. The Lord is so involved with missionary work because, well, it's his work! It's a wonderful thing to be apart of. I love it:)

Well I think that may be all for this week. Sorry it's pretty short! Oh yeah! We did exchanges this week and I got to work with Sister Blosil! She is a singer and actually released an album the day before she entered the MTC. Look her up! She's incredible. Jen Blosil is her name:)  Have a wonderful week and don't ever forget... Miracles happen!!!! I am a witness of it. Stay humble and happy :)
I love you all!!!
